SPENCER S. BECKMAN
Spencer Beckman is a founding partner of the firm. His practice focuses primarily on family law, criminal law, and personal injury issues. He regularly practices throughout the Northern Virginia area including Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Prince William County, Clarke County, Frederick County and the City of Winchester.

Spencer was born in Leesburg, Virginia and grew up in Chantilly, Virginia where he attended Chantilly High School. Upon his graduation from High School, he attended the University of Tennessee where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and graduated summa cum laude. He was a four-year member of the University of Tennessee Drumline and was fortunate to travel around the country with the football team. After completing his undergraduate education, he moved to South Carolina to attend the University of South Carolina School of Law.
While in law school, Spencer was a member editor of the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal, a mentor in the peer mentor program, and a member of Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. After graduation, he worked as a public defender at the Richland County Public Defender’s Office in Columbia, South Carolina. As a public defender, Spencer handled a caseload of over 250 clients with charges ranging from Simple Possession of Marijuana to Murder. He gained valuable courtroom experience as he handled numerous jury trials and complicated hearings, and was even mentioned in The Washington Post for his representation of a national political candidate in 2010.
Spencer moved back to the Northern Virginia area in 2010 and began practicing family law and criminal law in Fairfax, Virginia shortly thereafter. He then became an associate attorney at Whitbeck Cisneros McElroy PC in 2011, where he enjoyed connecting with his roots in Leesburg. After two years, Spencer formed Beckman Schmalzle PLC with his good friend and colleague Ryan M. Schmalzle. He lives in Loudoun County, Virginia with his wife Kara and their two children.
